"I have known Stephen Ragan for 23 years. In 1987, I was manager of the candy company Blum's located inside Sears, in downtown Dayton, Ohio. I had never worked retail before. My working background was secretarial. I was given one day of training and left on my own to manage a staff of four and a café and candy store.

I was in charge of employee discipline, scheduling, merchandising, knowing health inspector rules, and everything that goes along with running a business. My regional manager came once a month to check on things.
